(SXSW 2012 flavoured!) Live Gig Video: Films of Colour play an acoustic, snowy version of ‘Running’

By on Wednesday, 14th March 2012 at 2:00 pm

TGTF 10 for 2012 winners Films of Colour will be releasing their fourth single, ‘Running’, on the 16th of April. It will be backed by ‘Creature of Habit’. To go along with this single news, the band have released the video below, featuring an acoustic version of ‘Running’ played on a snowy plain.

If all goes to plan, I will be catching the band at the Second Play Stage SXSW performance at the Omni Hotel tonight at 6 PM Central time. If you’re in Austin, get yourself down there. They will also be playing at Easy Tiger’s BMI Showcase on Thursday at 8:30 PM.

Read our 10 for 2012 interview with Films of Colour here.

(SXSW 2012 flavoured!) Video of the Moment #735: Tribes

By on Tuesday, 13th March 2012 at 6:00 pm

Tribes‘ debut album ‘Baby’ is just getting its stateside release today, but we’ve got the new video for ‘Corner of an English Field’ by the band for you this evening. Part tour slapstick, part live cuts, it’s a nice visual for those who think the song is a bit of a snooze. (I’m definitely not in that group; I think the song is just lovely.)

The band will be at SXSW this week but they’ve got a massive April/May UK tour lined up; all the gig details are here.

Listen to and download it for absolutely nothing below. Want to see the video for Leftwich’s latest single, ‘Pictures’ and get another freebie mp3? Head over here.

He’ll be performing at the Agency Group’s Latitude 30 showcase at 9 PM on Thursday, among other appearances.

(SXSW 2012 flavoured!) Video of the Moment #733: Charlie Simpson

By on Sunday, 11th March 2012 at 10:00 am

There seems to be a definite trend in animation across UK artist promo videos. Take, for example, this video for the new single from Charlie Simpson, for ‘Farmer and His Gun’ (out at the end of April).

As we reported last December, Simpson will be touring the UK in March and April, shortly after he makes an appearance stateside this week at SXSW.
