Video of the Moment #2464: PINS

For their latest music video, PINS have decided to go political. The Manchester girl group have taken footage of them and many others at the anti-conservative March in Manchester that took place on the 1st of October. It’s quite fitting that the song they’re soundtracking the visuals is their single ‘Serve the Rich’, produced by The Kills‘ Jamie Hince. The song is new material following the girls’ latest EP, ‘Bad Things’, which was released earlier this year. (That EP starred a collaboration with none other than Iggy Pop on the single ‘Aggrophobe’.) Feel inspired to fight the establishment by watching the video for ‘Serve the Rich’ below.

Video of the Moment #2286: PINS (feat. Iggy Pop)

Manchester girl group PINS have proven over the last few years that they don’t and won’t take crap from anyone. In their latest single, they are joined by the musical godfather of that exact ethos, Iggy Pop. The promo for ‘Aggrophobe’ features a watering hole beloved to those in the know in Manchester, and here’s what he band had to say about the video:

‘Aggrophobe’ is the wild card from our EP. The video was filmed partly at the director’s studio in Ancoats and partly at one of our favourite pubs on Oldham Street called Gulliver’s. We’re backstage waiting to go on to play a show, whilst the other acts are doing their thing.

‘Aggrophobe’ is also a good preview of things to come: the Northern group recently announced they will be releasing new EP ‘Bad Thing’ on the 24th of March on Haus of PINS. Catch PINS on tour in the UK in April. Read more of TGTF’s coverage on the girl band through here.

(Holiday!) Video of the Moment #2256: PINS

Manchester’s PINS aren’t known for their softer side. No, the Northern girl group is more likely to give you a swift kick in the behind through their loud, unapologetic punk style. So it’s with some surprise – to me, anyway – that they have offered up their own Christmas single, available now exclusively through Amazon Music as an original entry to the online retailer’s ‘Indie for the Holidays’ collection. The promo video for ‘Come on Home (It’s Christmas)’ is a self-made, lo-fi affair, featuring backstage clips and a walk through a Christmas market (I’m assuming Manchester’s own). The song itself is a engaging blend of the girls’ harmonies and festive chimes. Check it out below. For more on PINS on TGTF, go here.

Video of the Moment #2122: PINS

Manchester’s sassiest girl group PINS have a new video out today for ‘I’ll Get Mine’. The track features on their current album ‘Wild Nights’, released last summer on Bella Union. (Read Carrie’s review of the long player here.) Following the North West band’s lo-fi style, the video is monochromatic, suiting the slow burn feel of the track. Watch the video below. (SXSW 2016 flavoured!) Video of the Moment #2064: PINS

Manchester’s PINS released on Saturday on Record Store Day release a red 10″ single of their song ‘Trouble’. The Bella Union girl group appeared last month in Austin for SXSW 2016, wowing crowds with their dream-tinged, punk style music. The black and white presentation and aesthetic PINS have used in the past works well with the single’s dark, sinister sound and the words, “you’ve got yourself a sickness that just won’t leave”. Ouch. Watch the promo video for ‘Trouble’ below.
