The Lost Brothers / January and February 2018 UK/Irish Tour

By on Thursday, 2nd November 2017 at 9:00 am

Irish folk duo The Lost Brothers have announced details of their forthcoming new album ‘Halfway Towards a Healing’, due out on the 26th of January next year. Mark McCausland and Oisin Leech recorded this latest LP in Tucson, Arizona, and its first teaser track has the distinct feel of the American Old West about it, with stark instrumentation, distantly reverberant vocals and a faintly Spanish-tinged rhythm in the guitar line. In case you missed it, our own editor Mary has written a full review of that first single, ‘Echoes in the Wind’, right back here.

Following the release of ‘Halfway Towards a Healing’, The Lost Brothers will embark on a tour of the UK and Ireland, including stops in London, Dublin and Belfast. Prior to their early 2018 dates, McCausland and Leech will play a handful of warm up shows in Navan and Omagh in mid-December. They have also announced a single American date, in New York on the 12th of March 2018. You can find a full listing of The Lost Brothers’ upcoming live shows on their official Facebook.

Tickets for the following shows are available now. You’ll find TGTF’s previous coverage of The Lost Brothers, including a live review from SXSW 2015, collected back here.

Joshua Burnside and PORTS / October 2017 English/Irish Tour

By on Friday, 11th August 2017 at 9:00 am

Two great talents from Northern Ireland will be coheadlining on a tour in October that will take them through England and Ireland. Joshua Burnside (pictured above) and band PORTS have different musical sensibilities, which I think makes for a good pairing. They’re alike enough that their own fans will likely take to the other act. Burnside released his album ‘Ephrata’ in May, and you can read Adam’s review of it here. The release of PORTS’ debut album ‘The Devil is a Songbird’ shortly followed Burnside’s; you can read about their album launch party in Derry through here. Tickets to the entire tour, whose English leg takes place in the first week of October and Irish leg follows on the last week of October, are on sale now. For more on Joshua Burnside here on TGTF, use this link; for PORTS, go here.

Lewis Watson / September 2017 English/Irish Tour

By on Monday, 7th August 2017 at 9:00 am

Oxfordshire singer/songwriter Lewis Watson released a new album earlier this year. ‘midnight’, which followed his 2014 breakthrough LP ‘the morning’, came out around the time of SXSW 2017. While I wasn’t impressed with his live performance at St. David’s Bethell Hall during our week in Austin, I hope all the kinks have been worked out with his performing his newest material. This past Saturday on Twitter, he shared a new tour for September, hitting English and Irish towns. I believe the tickets to this tour are on sale now. They will be followed by a few Continental dates before he heads back to North America. For more on Lewis Watson right here on TGTF, come through.
