The BBC at Glastonbury 2014 (Saturday): Nick Mulvey performs acoustic ‘Fever to the Form’ at the BBC Music Tent

Wherever you will be hanging your hat this weekend, whether you’re joining the sheep at Worthy Farm or you’ve got your feet up in front of the telly, us here at TGTF will have you covered when it comes to Glastonbury 2014. The dedicated people they are, the folks at the BBC will be working all hours during the festival and feeding us live coverage as it becomes available. What does this mean for you? We’ll be passing along all the best bits to you, our faithful readers.

The kind of artist you immediately think of who would go perfectly in an environment like the BBC Music Tent at Glastonbury 2014 would be Nick Mulvey, am I right? Here is Mulvey on Saturday with nothing but his voice and guitar, after his appearance opening the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm on Friday. Once you’re through with that, I recommend you get some shut eye, because that is exactly what we’re doing. See you in the morning!

The BBC at Glastonbury 2014 (Sunday): White Lies playing ‘Farewell to the Fairground’ at the Other Stage

I have a soft spot in my heart for London’s White Lies: they were one of the bands that played the first show I ever covered as a music writer; they were part of a NME-sponsored tour here in America. ‘Farewell to the Fairground’ off their debut (and #1) album was one of the songs that was met with incredible cheers when it was played at their first show ever in DC. They’re now international stars but it’s great to see them play an old classic like this to the delight of their fans at an event as big as Glasto. Watch them perform it at the Other Stage Sunday at Glastonbury 2014 below.

The BBC at Glastonbury 2014 (Sunday): Glass Animals performing at the BBC Introducing Stage

Oxford band Glass Animals released their debut album ‘Zaba’ earlier this month, the first LP under producer Paul Epworth’s new Wolftone label. BBC Introducing filmed not one but two videos of the band performing at their stage Sunday afternoon at Glastonbury 2014 and we’ve got them here for your delectation. First is one of the groovier cuts from the album, ‘Hazey’. But if you’re familiar at all with ‘Zaba’, you’ll be surprised with this live treatment, as it’s quite different.

Regular TGTF readers will recall our posting back in April of Glass Animals’ superb cover of Kanye West’s ‘Love Lockdown’ after they’d laid it down in Oz superbly for national radio station there triple j. Just as it had done to presenters Matt and Alex down under, us here at TGTF were basically rendered speechless by it. The cover made a welcome appearance at Glasto to close out the band’s set, delighting the BBC Introducing punters. (I particularly enjoyed the grooving of the folks down the front, as well as the dancing of the chap in the back with the hat, who was definitely getting into it!) One has to wonder what Mr. West has to say about the cover, considering the original triple j video now has over 200,000 views (holy cow).

The BBC at Glastonbury 2014 (Sunday): The Kooks performing ‘Around Town’ at the John Peel Stage

The Kooks made their return this year, showing off their new sound and swagger at SXSW 2014. The promo video for ‘Around Town’ was so controversial and violent, I didn’t feel comfortable posting it on TGTF, so I’m glad a live video of the group performing the song has surfaced. Here is the Brighton band playing it with a gospel choir section at the John Peel Stage on Sunday at Glastonbury 2014. It’s worth watching, even if only to see Luke Pritchard’s seemingly Sheldon Cooper Halloween inspired outfit.

The BBC at Glastonbury 2014 (Sunday): Ellie Goulding sings ‘I Need Your Love’ at the BBC Music Tepee

Before making her late night appearance at the Other Stage Sunday at Glastonbury 2014, pop princess Ellie Goulding stopped by the BBC Music Tepee for this stripped back, acoustic version of ‘I Need Your Love’, also baring her midriff in the process. Check it out below. Miss Goulding’s come a long way since we started writing about her in 2009!
