Connect Festival / Now with Guillemots / Ladytron and friends

By on Thursday, 19th June 2008 at 12:26 pm

Hydro Connect Festival LogoI promised myself I wouldn’t mention the festivals this summer, with the vast majority of them having shockingly awful lineups (yes, Reading / Leeds / Wireless / Glastonbury, I’m looking at you). However one festival has consistently attracted my attention: Connect.

I’ve already mentioned it before, but the new bands they’ve added to the lineup this week means I have to mention it again: it’s like my dream festival lineup.

Not only do they already have Kasabian, Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand, Sigur Ros, Bloc Party, Gossip and friends, they now have the amazing Ladytron, Guillemots and NME favourites Glasvegas. Quite honestly, I’d give anything to see this lineup, as it looks pretty darned good compared to the rest of the festivals. All they need to do is add Delays and The National, and I’ll be up there in a flash.

If I were you, come payday I’d get a weekend ticket, which are priced £120 and weekend tickets with camping are £140. To buy, log onto their website or call Ticketmaster on 08444 999 990

Hydro Connect Festival’s lineup gets better…

By on Tuesday, 27th May 2008 at 8:01 pm

Hydro Connect Festival LogoI always said that There Goes The Fear wouldn’t be another festival news site, sticking with gigs and tours. However, one festival has caught my eye for the second year running… the Hydro Connect Festival.

In rural Scotland, it has a simply amazing lineup over the last weekend in August, with all the bands below playing… which is pretty much a who’s who of my favourite bands. Now, if they just added Delays I’d be happy!!

Just look at this lineup…

Franz Ferdinand
Bloc Party
Sigur Ros
Manic Street Preachers,
Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band,
Mercury Rev,
The Coral (acoustic),
Paolo Nutini,
Asobi Seksu,
The Young Knives,

How immense is that? Precisly. Looks like one of the best festivals this year, quite honestly.

If I were you, come payday on Friday I’d get a weekend ticket, which are priced £120 and weekend tickets with camping are £140. To buy, log onto their website or call Ticketmaster on 08444 999 990

Lodestar festival cancelled

By on Wednesday, 1st August 2007 at 5:57 pm

Lodestar logoThis year’s Lodestar festival has been cancelled.

It seems that like so many festivals they have been plagued by weather problems, and thus has fallen behind with the organisation.

The three day event on the first weekend of September (August 31st – September 2nd) was set to include Badly Drawn Boy, Maps, Idlewild, Pigeon Detectives and The Rakes amongst others.

The word is that the first Lodestar festival may well be held next Summer.
