Video of the Moment #2211: Cut Copy

By on Friday, 28th October 2016 at 6:00 pm

At the end of September, Aussies Cut Copy surprised everyone by releasing a 44-minute ambient instrumental piece called ‘January Tape’. While the old school cassette tape version of the surprise release sold out long ago, the digital version of ‘January Tape’ is out today. Now, the band have released a new promo video to go with today’s release. Technically, this is multiple videos put together in one…you’ll see what I mean when you watch it below. Described on the press release as “More meditation than music video, more hypnosis than hype,” it’s a set of visuals that seem to pit the man-made world versus the natural world. Check it out. God bless Cut Copy. We’re going to end the working week with a new remix of their brilliant single ‘Meet Me in a House of Love’, this time by The Miracles Club. It couldn’t be just a coincidence that their Facebook description reads “take shelter in the house of love”, eh? You can listen to and grab the mp3 for free below.

You can grab the TJANI remix of the single from this previous MP3 of the Day post.

Cut Copy‘s single ‘Meet Me in a House of Love’ may have met its match. The Aussie synth band’s grooveathon has been remixed by NYC producer TJANI, who has turned it into a deep house soon-to-be classic. Have a listen below in the Soundcloud widget, and it’s free for the taking if you like it.

Our previous coverage on Cut Copy is right this way.

Video of the Moment #1556: Cut Copy

I think it’s time for some fab Aussie dance music to break you out of the Monday doldrums, am I right? Straight from the start, the title of Cut Copy‘s ‘Meet Me in a House of Love’ sounds perfect. The song features on their album ‘Free Your Mind’, their fourth released in 2013. I like the approach they’ve taken with this video, in which a lone actor sings and acts out in front of what seems like an unfeeling audience: doesn’t it feel like this when you’re in love with someone and you’re alone in your own world? Lose yourself in Dan Whitford’s always dreamy vocals and Cut Copy’s mad beats by watching the video below.

We’ve written a fair bit on the Oz band, and you can read all of our archive on them here.

MP3 of the Day #812: Cut Copy

By on Friday, 21st February 2014 at 10:00 am

Australian dance band Cut Copy are giving away this remix of ‘We Are Explorers’; the original form is available on the band’s fourth album ‘Free Your Mind’ released last year. As might be expected from a remix by DFA Records’ Larry Gus, it’s absolutely wonderful, with Cut Copy’s Dan Whitford oozing, “to me, this remix epitomizes everything that is incredible about Larry Gus. He is a master at collaging together obscure sounds and live percussion to create something magically evocative and new”. We agree!

The Australians have a conspicuous SXSW 2014-shaped hole in their touring schedule in March; nothing’s confirmed yet, but if you’re a fan, keep your ears to the ground just in case. Previously announced and currently on sale UK and Irish dates for April are listed here.
