Howler / March and April 2014 UK Tour

Minneapolis rock quartet Howler have just announced a spring headline tour of the UK, featuring support from Kent’s own Broken Hands.  The video for Howler’s new single, ‘Indictment’, was recently featured by Mary here, leading up to the release of their new album, ‘World of Joy’, out Monday on Rough Trade. The tour begins next week; tickets are available now.

The Districts / April and May 2014 UK Tour

American indie rockers The Districts have just announced their debut tour of the UK, including a headline show at Sebright Arms in London and a handful of festival appearances in May. Tickets for the Sebright Arms show go tomorrow, Friday the 7th of March, at 9 AM.

Ahead of their trans-Atlantic trip, the band will play at SXSW 2014 next week. Listen to ‘Funeral Beds’, from their self-titled EP, below the tour dates.

Cheltenham’s Young Kato have a brand spanking new video out for ‘Help Yourself’, their next single out on BMG/Chrysalis on the 24th of March. Pure pop goodness. Watch it below.

The band placed #7 on our 10 for 2014 readers’ poll at the end of 2013; we interviewed frontman Tommy Wright then and you can read our feature here. After a one-off date in London in March to launch the single, they’ll be heading out on an extensive UK/Irish tour in April and May, supported by Oxford’s Pixel Fix; all the dates are listed under the video embed.

Sky Larkin have released a unique video for track ‘Newsworthy’, off their September 2013 album ‘Motto’ out now on Wichita Recordings. This is a lyric video (“the cacophony is coming for me”) but with archived footage appropriate to the song title. Watch it below.

The Leeds band have also revealed plans to tour the UK in April and will also appear at Gold Sounds Festival in Leeds in late May; all the details are below the video embed.

School of Language / April 2014 UK Tour

School of Language – the name of the solo project of David Brewis from in the critically lauded Sunderland duo Field Music in which he plays with his brother Peter, as pictured above – will be touring as a band in April in the UK. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday the 31st of January) at 9 AM.

The Crookes / April and May 2014 UK Tour

Sheffield’s purveyors of New Pop, The Crookes will embark on a tour of the UK this April in support of their highly-anticipated upcoming album ‘Soapbox’, out right before the tour begins, on the 14th of April on Fierce Panda. The first single, ‘Play Dumb’, was reviewed earlier this week by Mary here.

The April tour dates will be followed by a series of shows in Europe before the band returns for a hometown show in Sheffield on the 31st of May. Tickets for the following UK dates go on sale today (Friday the 17th of January) at 10 AM. Support will come from their Sheffield brethren and #4 band on the TGTF 10 for 2014 readers’ poll High Hazels.
