Live Gig Video: Muse release August 2013 performance of ‘Futurism’ from Tokyo Zepp

By on Tuesday, 23rd December 2014 at 4:00 pm

As a Christmas gift to their fans, Muse have revealed this rare performance of their ‘Origins of Symmetry’ bonus track ‘Futurism’, played at a show in August 2013 at Zepp in Tokyo, Japan. Up to this point, it had been some 10 years since it last had a public airing. It was announced previously that the entire gig at Zepp had been filmed, so Musers can expect a live DVD sometime in the future. For now though, watch the spectacle that is Muse live below. You can also download the performance video from this handy link as well.

What could be more beautiful than a High Hazels song being performed acoustically? Very little. So we’re very pleased to bring you this video of frontman James Leesley in the middle of iconic Sheffield record shop Record Collector performing their single ‘Hearts Are Breaking’. Sometimes the simplest things are the most gorgeous. Watch the video below.

Kodaline had an amazing 2013 and lucky for us, they documented a hell lot of their touring days last year. Enter this collection of tour memories set to the new version of ‘One Day’, which will be released on the 17th of February (the Monday after Valentine’s Day, but who’s keeping track?) as a single in its own right. (SXSW 2014 flavoured!) Live Gig Videos: The Crookes play ‘Sal Paradise’ and ‘Sofie’ at New York’s Bowery Electric

By on Tuesday, 7th January 2014 at 4:00 pm

Just like Little Comets featured in our Live Gig Video feature yesterday, we’d been writing here at TGTF about the Crookes for a long time before they actually made it out to America to play some shows. Technically, their first American gig was at the Bowery Electric in New York City on the 17th of September last year, and I’m pleased to bring you two videos of ‘Sal Paradise’ and ‘Sofie’, aka tracks 7 and 8 on the band’s second album ‘Hold Fast’, filmed live that very night. Enjoy them below.

At 8 PM GMT tonight, I’ve been told personally that the Crookes are going to make a pretty special announcement about their third album; check in at their Facebook page at that time for more. Read the Bowery Electric review here and the review of the Brooklyn Union Hall show 2 nights later here. The band are scheduled to perform at this year’s SXSW in March.

Live Gig Videos: Little Comets perform ‘Violence Out Tonight’ and ‘Joanna’ at the Hamilton in Washington, DC

By on Monday, 6th January 2014 at 4:00 pm

In case you missed it last summer, after 4 long years of waiting, I finally got to see Newcastle band Little Comets in my hometown of Washington, DC. They impressed me so much, landing at the very top of the heap of my Top Gigs of 2013 list. I also got to chat with Rob Coles and Matt Hall from the band backstage after their great show at the exceedingly lovely Hamilton, just a short walk from the White House.

As many of you know, I am a sharer, especially when it comes to spreading the word on bands on love. It sucks when you live far away and/or in another country where your favourite bands are playing. With that, I bring you live videos from the DC show: the socially conscious ‘Violence Out Tonight’ from second album ‘Life is Elsewhere’ and debut LP crowd pleaser ‘Joanna’. Enjoy them both below. Ah, memories!
