Video of the Moment #365: The Black Keys

By on Monday, 11th October 2010 at 6:00 pm

It’s not exactly new, as it was posted back in June, but this live studio version of The Black Keys‘ ‘Too Afraid to Love You’ is just too amazing not to share. Shot in black and white, the simple video allows their performance to shine through. Dan Auerbach’s incredible voice over Patrick Carney’s drumming and the fantastic harpsichord melody creates something that is quite simply breathtaking. This is pure musical talent at its finest.

The Black Keys are playing gigs in the UK this October and November. See our ticket alert for more information.

Video(s) of the Moment #362: Life in Film

By on Wednesday, 6th October 2010 at 6:00 pm

It’s not every day that you see a band play a song in a cemetary, but Hackney-based Life In Film did just that for Watch Listen Tell. Sitting in Stoke Newington Cemetery, they played a gorgeous rendition of their song ‘Carla.’

And if you’re not sick of Burberry Acoustic yet, they’ve done two sessions for them as well. Check out ‘Alleyway’ performed in the band’s back garden:

And here is ‘Idiot’ performed on the streets of Milan:

Video of the Moment #361: The Acoma

By on Tuesday, 5th October 2010 at 6:00 pm

Yes, ANOTHER video from the Burberry Acoustic sessions. But what can I say, they pick great bands and the videos they shoot are stunning! London band The Acoma are one of the latest to be featured, performing their charming song ‘Leaps & Bounds’ in their back garden. Formerly called Sunset’s Edge, they changed their name when they added two more members. Fun fact: lead singer Matthew Gilmour is the son of Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour.

Video of the Moment #360: Paloma Faith

By on Monday, 4th October 2010 at 6:00 pm

While I’ll admit she’s an acquired taste for some, I simply adore Paloma Faith‘s quirky personality and fashion sense and her incredible, distinctive voice. So I was thrilled to see that yet another track from 2009’s ‘Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?’ (This is the 6th single if you count both versions of ‘New York.’) In the video, Paloma plays the part of a disenchanted magician’s assistant, who in the end gets her revenge, and it fits perfectly both with her style and with the lyrics “And now we’re through / The show is over / The audience is walking out the room / You know it’s true, when I told ya / That all you’ve done comes back around on you.”

Check the video out below and let us know what you think!

Paloma Faith is doing a series of gigs in the UK this October and November. See our ticket alert for more information.

Video of the Moment #359: Little Red

By on Friday, 1st October 2010 at 6:00 pm

Here on TGTF, we first introduced you to Melbourne quintet Little Red nearly a year ago with Jess’s Bands to Watch piece. Today, we’re happy to bring you their video for ‘Rock It,’ the first single off their newest album, ‘Midnight Remember.’ The video is one massive party, complete with bubbles, bonfires and beer … and, umm…a big spiky thing? Whatever it is, the colours are fantastic and the video works perfectly with the joyous song. Watch it below and let us know what you think!
