Video of the Moment #2780: Django Django (feat. Self Esteem)

By on Thursday, 1st February 2018 at 6:00 pm

Scottish art school synth and percussion geeks Django Django released their third album ‘Marble Skies’ last Friday on Because Music. Want to learn more about it? Have a stroll over to my review from last week through here.

One of the best tracks on the LP stars what I called “the buoyantly beautiful ‘Surface to Air'”, which features vocals from Self Esteem, aka Rebecca Taylor of Slow Club. Her debut single as Self Esteem last year, ‘Your Wife’, was produced by the Djangos’ drummer Dave Maclean, so this collaboration was practically a no-brainer. It looks like Taylor was open to participating with them in a visual sense, too, for the promo video for ‘Surface to Air’. The now platinum blonde Taylor is shown in various, primary-coloured outfits, seemingly channeling Madonna. Intrigued? Watch the video for the song below.
