Video of the Moment #2349: Birds of Olympus

I can’t say the genre ‘neo-psych’ is something I would associate with Ireland. I doubt you would either. But then again, maybe you haven’t heard of Birds of Olympus yet. The Wicklow group, fresh off of appearances at Canadian Music Week 2017 last week in Toronto plus SXSW 2017 last month, are feeding off more throwback vibes in their latest promo video.

With its crisp guitars and crooning from John “Spud” Murphy, ‘Vine of the Soul’ sonically feels like it would have be right at home in the Swinging Sixties. I highly approve. I’m totally sending this to my Bobby Vinton-loving mum. The video, on the other hand, could only have been made with today’s Photoshop and some gear editing software.
