Video of the Moment #2188: White Lung

This is looking like a bit of a punk week, isn’t it? Yesterday here on TGTF, we showed you the new video for ‘Rayguns’ by Aussies The Peep Tempel. This evening, we’ve returned to North America, British Columbia to be exact, for the new promo video from White Lung. Director Justin Gradin, who previously collaborated with the Vancouver punks on the promo ‘Hungry’, says about this one for ‘Sister’:

In a lonely world a man seeks to find love through his telephone. He discovers two women with whom he becomes obsessed with from their captivating and elegant conversations. In the end, these two women’s thrilling lives and escalating partying leave the man feeling isolated and rejected again…It’s basically a ’90s chat line commercial on PCP.

Considering that nearly all blind date-style dating happens now online and not on the phone, it’s pretty throwback. And unfortunately for our hapless protagonist, it’s as frustrating as today’s online dating scene. ‘Sister’ appears on the band’s fourth and 2016 Polaris Prize-nominated album ‘Paradise’, which is out now on Domino Records. Watch it below. For more on TGTF on White Lung, head here.
