Video of the Moment #2106: Slow Club

What’s the latest development out of the Slow Club camp? The Sheffield duo comprised of Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor have been working with American Matthew E. White on their latest album, scheduled for a release in August. Going out to Richmond, Virginia, to White’s Spacebomb Studios to work with the man and his in-house musicians, ‘One Day All Of This Won’t Matter Anymore’ promises to be a marriage made in heaven between the Yorkshire pair and the long-haired, avuncular soul pop Virginian. Proof is in the pudding, so to speak, with first taster ‘Ancient Rolling Sea’, its video described by Watson like this:

I’ve been telling my mates this vid is somewhere between Garth Marenghi’s Dark Place and the Rhinestone Cowboy video. Anyone feeling that? This particular song was a first take in the studio. There was a moment when we all decided that there was no need for a second take, and let me assure you, that has never happened with Slow Club. It felt as though the video needed somehow to mirror that spontaneity.

Watson takes it easy while Taylor bangs away on her drum kit, sometimes absent-mindedly while also looking at her phone. Heh. Have a watch and listen to this spontaneous taster from ‘One Day All Of This Won’t Matter Anymore’ below. The album is due out the 19th of August on Moshi Moshi Records.
