Video of the Moment #1740: Bear’s Den

Bear’s Den have released the promo for a song that saw the light of day some time ago. ‘Agape’ was the title track of an EP from the London alt-folk trio in 2013; loads have happened to the band since then, including the release of their debut on Communion Records, ‘Islands’, last October. On the 6th of April, ‘Agape’ will be re-released as a single. The promo video was filmed on Bantham Beach in Devon, which coincidentally is across a bay from Burgh Island, where Communion alum Ben Howard recorded his EP of the same name. Kev of Bear’s Den tells us about the making of the video for ‘Agape’:

To me the song is partly about insecurity in a relationship, about never being able to shake that feeling, and how by default that feeling can lead to a relationship’s demise. I thought slowly sinking into the sand only to be engulfed in waves summed that up well, the feeling of inevitability brought on by your own thoughts and the sensation of restriction that can manifest itself in those situations… The shoot itself was a little more brutal that we had imagined, nothing can quite prepare you for being buried fully clothed in wet sand at 8AM on a January morning.

Watch the gorgeously shot video below. Bear’s Den are in the midst of a February/March tour; all the details of the tour are here.
