(Olympics 2012 flavoured!) Video of the Moment #922: Delphic

This isn’t an official promo video but instead it’s what I gather a collage of sporty, inspiring clips from this year’s Olympics in London put together by Delphic, who also redid Vangelis’ ‘Chariots of Fire’. Their version was played at all of this Olympics’ medal ceremonies; I heard a little tinkling of it as Team USA’s womens’ basketball team were being awarded their gold medals yesterday on NBC’s American coverage, but it must have sounded more grandiose on a loudspeaker. Watch the ‘video’ below; it’s a nice ‘last hurrah’ to the end of what has been 2 very exciting weeks for both sport and music.

In case the IOC decides to pull this clip like they did with the Arctic Monkeys one, I’ve also embedded the audio clip from the band’s Soundcloud. Delphic’s second album is due out in early 2013; in an interview with BBC 6music News’ Elizabeth Alker that aired Friday (scroll forward to 2 hours 24 minutes), Rick Boardman described the album as being full of “rap and acoustic guitars”. More information about their new direction is in my brief chat with James Cook from last month here.
