(Jubilee Guilty Pleasure!) Video of the Moment #823: Dee-Lite

Editor’s note: do not adjust your screen. Yes, we’re airing some of our (and some of your!) favourite song guilty pleasures in video form this Jubilee weekend. The bands were featuring are largely not the kind we write about here on TGTF, but we wanted to do something new and cool over this 4-day weekend. Come along for the crazy ride and enjoy.

Tonight’s dance tune is brought to you by Martin, who suggested Dee-Lite‘s grooveathon ‘Groove is the Heart’, which brought back platform shoes and loud colours back into the mainstream in 1990. Sadly, Dee-Lite no longer exists, and sorry, there’s not a better quality video on YouTube, but I imagine you’ve heard this one before.

Unbelievably, despite their singer trying to get a court to stop them, both Sega and Wii have used a likeness of her in the guise of a character called Ulala and there’s an advert for the video game dance version of this on YouTube, so I’ve embedded that as well. The price of progress.

About Us

There Goes The Fear is where we tell you about the latest music, gigs, and tours we love and think you should too.

We love music that has its heart on its sleeve, tells a story, swims around our head all day or makes us dance like no-one's watching.

TGTF is edited by Mary Chang, who is based in Washington, DC. She is joined by writers in England, America and Ireland. It began as a UK music blog by Phil Singer in 2005.

All MP3s are posted with the permission of the artists or their representatives and are for sampling only. Like the music? Buy it.
