FAC 51 the Hacienda Presents ‘From Manchester to Japan with Love x’ (Charity Benefit) / April 2011

Music heads in London quickly put together a Japan Disaster Benefit to benefit the British Red Cross for this upcoming Sunday, so it seems only fitting that the North would have their own event. Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook is better known these days as the proud proprietor of FAC 251, a new music and dance club is situated in the old head offices of Factory Records in Manchester city centre. Hook and his band the Light, along with house luminaries Basement Jaxx (pictured above) and Felix da Housecat, were scheduled to be in Japan this month for a special Hacienda Japan event that, due to the terrible earthquake and tsunami devastation that occurred in Northern Japan, was understandably cancelled.

In response to the unfolding suffering there, Hook is spearheading this charity effort to take place on Good Friday (22 April) at Manchester Sankeys. Officially being called ‘FAC51 The Haçienda presents From Manchester To Japan With Love x’, the evening at Sankeys will feature Hook himself, Basement Jaxx, Justin Robertson, Delphic (DJ set), Jon Dasilva, Dave Haslam, 808 State Rowetta, Herbie Saccani, Oli Furness, Zutech and Micron.

All proceeds from this charity event will be donated to earthquake relief efforts in Japan. Early bird tickets have now sold out (good on you Manchester!) but regular advance tickets are still available for £15 from Sankeys directly, Skiddle and Ticketline.
