Vote for Your Favourite Songs in 6music’s Top 40 Songs of 2010

After feeling pretty crestfallen reading over NME’s Top 75 Albums of 2010 on Tuesday, I was glad to find out my radio saviour BBC 6music are yet again running their ‘Top 40 of 2010’ poll this year. That is, they have what they’re calling a shortlist (uhhh, not really) of 100 of the best tracks of 2010 and you the fans can vote for your favourite.

If you peruse the list (transcribed painstakingly by yours truly and available under the cut) you will notice it features many TGTF favourites, including the very catchy ‘Heartbeat Song’ by the Futureheads, pictured above. I have to admit, trying to choose between about 20 songs I really liked this year was very difficult. In the end, I whittled it down to 5 and then chose the one I thought would be least likely to get a lot of votes.

Voting closes at 7 PM GMT on 20 December, and you can only vote once. The top 40 will be announced on a special New Year’s programme on 6music hosted by Steve Lamacq.

You can vote for your favourite song out of the 100-song shortlist provided by 6music here. After the cut, you can see the entire list of songs.
