10 for 2011: What say the other media?

Last Friday we announced that you, the faithful readers of TGTF, voted Nashville-based rockers Mona the #1 band to watch in 2011. We’d now like to do some comparing of our list with those of two of the biggest music muscles in Britain, MTV and the BBC.

So our (TGTF) 10 for 2011 list looks like this. Remember, this was voted for by you and not by industry insiders. To be honest, I was (pleasantly) surprised to see an American band top a UK music blog readers’ poll.
1. Mona (read the announcement post here)
2. Birdeatsbaby (read the announcement post here)
3. Two Door Cinema Club (read the announcement post here)

We love music that has its heart on its sleeve, tells a story, swims around our head all day or makes us dance like no-one's watching.

TGTF is edited by Mary Chang, who is based in Washington, DC. She is joined by writers in England, America and Ireland. It began as a UK music blog by Phil Singer in 2005.

All MP3s are posted with the permission of the artists or their representatives and are for sampling only. Like the music? Buy it.
