MP3 of the Day #259: Toy Horses

Never heard of Welsh duo Toy Horses? You soon will. Triumphant turns at America’s South by Southwest emerging music festival in 2009 (where they were featured in a showcase at the festival by Nic Harcourt, who championed Coldplay in their early days) and again in 2010 plus playing a gig at Los Angeles’s famed venue Spaceland…phew. That all says to me this act is no one-trick pony. (Sorry, I had to get an equine-flavoured joke in here somehow.)

Further investigation of these Welshmen makes for an interesting read: the duo comprises Adam Franklin and Tom Williams, who are stepson and stepfather. The family dynamic would not make you think immediately songwriting harmony’, yet listen to Toy Horses’s track ‘Interrupt’. It is a beautiful, expansive piece with gorgeous strings that makes me think of the beauty of the current season (autumn). It’s Friday. Let yourself fall in love. Listen, download, and enjoy the magic that is Toy Horses below.
