Preview: Parklife Festival

Look to the North for one hell of a dance party early this summer. The inaugural Parklife Festival will take place Saturday 12 June at Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield, Manchester. There’s much to celebrate as the park celebrates its 100th year since its official opening as a public park after its purchase by the city in 1908.

TGTF favourites Friendly Fires have been announced as the headliner, and if this 6music report holds water, it will be one of the few chances to see the St. Albans band in performance this summer. Also set to perform are German electrohouse duo Booka Shade, Calvin Harris (DJ set), Simian Mobile Disco (DJ set), Vitalic, Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke (playing a solo set) and Four Tet, among many others.

Early bird tickets have already sold out but standard priced day tickets for Saturday only are available for £29.50 each at various outlets. As one of the event’s sponsors are the people behind the fabulous Manchester Warehouse Project, there are also a limited number of ‘weekend’ tickets available for entry to Saturday’s festivities as well as the previous night’s party presented by MWP featuring Ian Brown as the headliner. These are on sale through Ticketline for £55 each.

After the cut: the scheduled full line-up for both days.
