Bands to Watch #144: Beatbullyz

Beatbullyz (side)Beatbullyz aren’t normally my sort of thing. From the name and what I’d read about them, I thought they were like N-Dubz’ poorer younger brothers (i.e. shockingly appalling). However, after having them bought to my attention again, their new single, “Golden City” is amazingly catchy.

They first rose to prominence opening the Introducing stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Swindon on the Sunday, and since then things have gone from strength to strength, including an appearance on Hollyoaks.

Whilst they’re essentially an “urban” act (which normally wouldn’t be my sort of thing), they’ve got a more laid back vibe about them – not so angry, a bit more melodic – like Just Jack if he was in a band.

Take a listen to their new single, ‘Golden City’ which is out on 23rd November, below and watch a video of them at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Swindon below that. You can catch them live at Club NME at Koko in London on 27th November.
