MP3 of the Day #712: Casiokids

By on Monday, 10th December 2012 at 10:00 am

So what you’re really thinking you want for the holidays is Casiokids covering Mariah Carey. Yes? If so, you are in luck, my friends. They’ve covered the Glitter one’s ‘All I Want For Christmas’ and we’ve got it here free for you to listen to and download for your very own. And it really wouldn’t be Casiokids with loads of fuzzy synths, right? Listen to and grab it from the widget below.

MP3 of the Day #711: Dutch Uncles

By on Wednesday, 5th December 2012 at 10:00 am

Dutch Uncles are starting to get traction in America (yeah, that one piece in Pitchfork on ‘Fester’ by one former NME editor did wonders…), and they’re now getting picked up by all sorts of American media channels. That’s how I found this giveaway of ‘Flexxin’, which I’m guessing will appear on their new album ‘Out of Touch in the Wild’ out in January on Memphis Industries. I hope you guys remember us little people when you’re all big and mighty…

MP3 of the Day #710: The 1975

By on Wednesday, 21st November 2012 at 10:00 am

Well, I do declare…we have ANOTHER The 1975 remix for you all. This time, it’s from Uk producer Hackman and it’s of the title track of their new ‘Sex’ EP. Listen to and download the remix below.

Braden interviewed frontman Matthew Healy for this TGTF interview.

MP3(s) of the Day (and more!) #709: Vitalic

By on Tuesday, 20th November 2012 at 10:00 am

French techno producer Vitalic released his newest album, ‘Rave Age’, earlier this month on Different Recordings. He’s put together a minimix of the album to celebrate, which you can download for free from the Soundcloud widget below. The tracklisting is as follows:

1. Nexus
2. Lucky Star
3. The March of Skabah
4. Under Your Sun (feat Owlle)
5. Rave Kids Go (feat Mickael Karkousse)
6. Next I’m Ready (feat Joe Reeves)
7. Stamina
8. Fade Away (feat Joe Reeves)

If you like dance, you should definitely give this album a try. One of the most energetic tracks on the album that I recommend you runners to add to your iPod is ‘Stamina’; watch its video below too.

MP3 of the Day #708: Delphic

By on Monday, 19th November 2012 at 10:00 am

Subscribers to the Delphic mailing list got an email last Friday with a link to this free remix of their Olympics single ‘Good Life’ done by their “…mate René (he wears a cape and comes on tour with us)”. (Is he a roadie? No idea, as I’ve not seen them gig in over 2 years. Maybe one of you who’ve seen them can tell me who this bloke with a cape is?) I think this version is far superior to the original actually, so have a listen to the remix and if you like it, grab it for your very own below.

MP3 of the Day (and more!) #707: Ash

By on Friday, 16th November 2012 at 3:30 pm

I know, I’m breaking our usual rule of posting free mp3 downloads at 10 AM, but this time I have a good excuse!

Last night the DC branch of TGTF went to go see Ash make their triumphant return to Washington DC after 7 long years. That’s right. SEVEN. It ended up being one of the most amazing and mental gigs I’ve ever been to: I seriously thought the bloke to my left was possessed, he was rocking out so hard, and the one next to Cheryl I recognised as Mister Super Dancer from the Delphic gig at the same venue, DC9, 2 years ago.

The song that was supposed to be the closer before the encore, ‘Return of White Rabbit’, is now being given away by the band this week, so yeah, what are you waiting for? Go get it! And you can watch the promo video for the song below as well.

Expect a rambling review of this gig, crammed with photos and videos, on TGTF next week.
