14 Musicians form Supergroup

Some people say that forming a band with six or seven members is too hard to keep control of and organise. Well how about doubling that number to form a supergroup. “Operation Aloha” will be the name of the band that consists of Maroon 5, Phantom Planet and Gomez, along with several other artists.

A self-titled album is set for release around 12th of May and is likely to get the press coverage you might expect from a country disappearing or something. So you may be wondering how the hell this happened. Well, the bands and artists took time off, to visit the island of Maui where they stayed in tree houses for a month. This was of course, to get inspired by the surroundings and form an album based on the islands tranquility, instead of just some far fetched publicity stunt.

I am no expert on forming a band or record, but 30 days, 14 members and a tree house for accommodation will mean that surely the album will be a huge flop. One thing is for sure though, I already can’t wait to hear it.

The full member list is as follows:

James Valentine (Maroon 5)
Jesse Carmichael (Maroon 5)
Dajon Everett (Gomez)
Ian Ball (Gomez)
Olly Peacock (Gomez)
Sam Farrar (Phantom Planet)
Christopher Wray-McCann (Photographer)
Charles Danek
Fil Krohnengold (All Spots To Black)
Mathew Chaney
Maureen Wray-McCann
Nadav Kahn (Kahn Brothers)
Saam Gabbay
Will Nash

Bands To Watch #66 – Finger Eleven

Finger ElevenFinger Eleven are no newcomers to the music industry having been around since 1989 but the group have struggled to break through and establish themselves as another Canadian rock titan, but now it seems they are finally getting what they deserve having recently made headlines with their “Maroon 5 meets Foo Fighters” sound.  The track “Paralyzer” has been the subject of recent success and like a lost treasure, it was written years ago but has suddenly become a top download on itunes.

The band are capable of producing a great album, although none of their tunes seem to be chart topping hits, their consistent high quality and variety of talent makes them a great addition to anyones music collection. Over the years there has been plenty of material from the band to listen to and whilst you can rock out to tracks like “Paralyzer” and “Talking to the Walls” there are more steady melodic, acoustic tracks like “I’ll keep your memory vague” and “One Thing” that, for me, highlights the bands sheer quality.

If you buy an album by Finger Eleven you may not be looking at the shelves by the entrance of your local CD shop but whilst you may have to look slightly harder for a disk, you can be assured that with that purchase you’re going to be satisfied. Catchy, fast paced tracks will explode from the start while simple and soft songs will bring all the melody and ear pleasure you need.
