Video of the Moment #2787: Deap Vally

Los Angeles duo Deap Vally released their second album ‘Femejism’ in 2016. They’re just getting around to releasing a very colourful video for LP track ‘Post Funk’. Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards’ brand of frenetic, hard played rock is set to a changing backdrop that looks like something we might have made in art class as kids. It’s also like a lyric video, except letters are flying around in quick succession. In short, it must have been an nightmare to make. Thankfully, it’s a lot easier to watch the video and enjoy the song. Watch it below. For more of our coverage on Deap Valley here on TGTF, go here.

Los Angeles punk grrls Deap Vally released their album ‘Femejism’ last year. They’ve now got a video for LP track ‘Turn It Off’, starring their friend Mischa Barton, formerly best known as the main love interest on The OC. The song is less punk and more pop than I remembered the girls being, and the squeals of the lead vocals sound suspiciously like Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Would you take a lookie here, ‘Femejism’ was produced by Nick Zinner of that band, ha. The monochromatic presentation of this promo appears to take viewers into Barton’s life being lived in a dollhouse, as weird as that is. Still, it’s satisfyingly stylised. Watch it below. Past TGTF coverage of Deap Valley here on TGTF can be read through here.

If the new Vaccines is leaving you a bit cold, just guessing here, but I think you’re going to feel like you’ve gotten a kick up the arse with ‘Bad for My Body’, the latest cut from Deap Vally‘s debut album ‘Sistronix’ available now. The video for the song might give you a headache (think bad, splicey tv screens from 30 or more years ago) but the song will knock your rock socks off. Watch it below.
