Video(s) of the Moment #2902: SOAK

It’s been a spell since we heard from Northern Irish singer/songwriter SOAK. In case you need a refresher, the young talent’s debut album for Rough Trade, ‘Before We Forgot How to Dream’, was nominated for the 2015 Mercury Prize and won the 2015 Choice Music Prize in Ireland. We caught the artist several times at SXSW 2015 that year, including at the Monday night Creative Belfast showcase.

It appears Bridie Monds-Watson has shed her mostly monochromatic skater image (see header photo) for the new video for her latest single, ‘Everybody Loves You’. The promo’s focus is pink (yes, pink), and the story told through the visuals seems to be one of self-acceptance despite not fitting in. That’s all I want to say about it because it has to be one of the weirdest videos I’ve seen that doesn’t belong to http://www.theregoesthefear.com/tag/flaminglips”>the Flaming Lips! Watch ‘Everybody Loves You’ below, along with the animated video for the song released previously. The song is available now in digital format from Rough Trade Records. We love music that has its heart on its sleeve, tells a story, swims around our head all day or makes us dance like no-one's watching.

TGTF is edited by Mary Chang, who is based in Washington, DC. She is joined by writers in England, America and Ireland. It began as a UK music blog by Phil Singer in 2005.

All MP3s are posted with the permission of the artists or their representatives and are for sampling only. Like the music? Buy it. If you want a track removed, email us and we'll sort it ASAP.
