Video of the Moment #2386: Grandaddy

We live in a musical world where unexpected reunions happen and produce amazing results, which is pretty amazing in itself. One of the most recent success stories in this vein is the reformation of Grandaddy, led by frontman Jason Lytle. Back in March, they released ‘Last Place’, their first studio album together in 11 years. It’s a slow burner of a record, and they have unveiled the latest music video from the LP. The visuals of ‘Brush With the Wild’ star probably hopelessly doomed to be a nerd actor Jonah Ray. This certainly raised a smile for me, and I hope it does for you too.

About the song itself, Lytle said to NPR, “I had to be convinced it was okay to tell someone that I loved them or to just let my guard down. And then, once I did, it was almost like this wild, primal thing. But it only comes in little flashes. It’s like a fish swimming through the river and every now and then it’ll turn and the light will flash off its skin and you get a glimpse of it, then it’s gone. Lightning is like that. But you get to experience it very briefly. [So] I was thinking how sad and bummed out I was finding the relationship being done [but] at least I got to experience that. I got to brush up against it.” Some deep thoughts, eh? To catch up on all our coverage here on TGTF on Grandaddy, go here.
