Video of the Moment #2105: Lovestarrs

Three years ago, promising electropop outfit The Good Natured led by Sarah McIntosh called it quits. Dropped by their then label, they suffered through quite possibly the worst thing any recording artist can go through (beyond getting dropped, of course): the masters to their labour of love, their album ‘Prism’, were held hostage by EMI/Parlophone. As an act of nonviolence even Gandhi would have been proud of, they decided to stop fighting the man and chose to disband instead, promising to rise up out of the ashes of their former guise and come back fighting better than ever. (You can read their heartfelt goodbye here.)

Sarah and her brother Hamish have now indeed returned as a new act called Lovestarrs and have signed to a new independent label DEFDISCO. There was always been a fun, flirty vibe to most of The Good Natured’s music while a synth buzzed away in the background. It’s great to hear the talented sibling duo have brought back both into their new act’s lead single from their upcoming debut album ‘Planet Lovestarr’, successfully crowdfunded through Kickstarter and headed for release on DEFDISCO in August. ‘Get Your Sexy On’ celebrates, in the duo’s own words, “plucking up the courage to make your first move on someone”, and the accompanying video brings their credo to life. Watch it below.
