Video of the Moment #1890: Metric

Following the release of a previous video for their single ‘The Shade’, Metric have released what they’re calling the official promo video for the song. ‘The Shade’ will appear on the Canadian electropop band’s sixth album ‘Pagans in Vegas’, which will drop on the 18th of September via Metric Music International.

In usual MTV video style, there’s an overwhelming display in ‘The Shade’ of shots of the group performing the song against the backdrop of sunny Los Angeles interspersed with symbols of our existence: sun and moon, energy (windmills), trash (literally in the form of a landfill) and destruction (riot police), and much more. I think the idea of this video was great, but I’m not sure it’s something you’d want to watch again and again. To be sure though, the tune is pretty good. Watch the promo below.

Metric tour in the UK in October in support of their new album. Want to read more on Metric on TGTF? Go here.
