Video of the Moment #1820: Kodaline

This past weekend in America was the Belmont Stakes in New York, part of the Triple Crown horse race series that garner a huge amount of attention in this country. What doesn’t get a lot of attention are the former racing jockeys who were injured in their line of often dangerous work and in the new promo for ‘Ready’ by Kodaline, these heroes of sport are given their due in a touching way. I didn’t think I could love this song any more than I already did – it’s my favourite off Kodaline’s second album ‘Coming Up for Air’, released in February – but the story in this video is so inspiring and shows as Steve Garrigan sings, “if we fall down hard I’ll be ready to grow.” Out of tragedy comes some amazing things.

According to the video’s notes on YouTube, it was “made in support of the PDJF (Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund), a charity that provides financial assistance to former jockeys who have suffered catastrophic on-track injuries.” For more information on the non-profit charity and to donate, visit their official Web site.
