Video of the Moment #1300: Kodaline

Dublin’s Kodaline, who now appear to be based in Birmingham (huh?), are appearing at Reading and Leeds this weekend. Our fearless festival liaison John has already seen them at Reading, agreeing with my pronouncement that they are ready to be the Irish Coldplay.

It was a while ago that they released the video for ‘Brand New Day’, their next single available starting this Sunday, the 25th of August, and I’ve put off posting it because there are some, err, activities in the video that aren’t really suitable IMO for younger viewers. While I know that kind of stuff goes on for teenagers, I don’t really see a reason why a band like theirs should be promoting such activity; I expect that from, say, rappers who have naked women in their videos. Still, we’re coming into the last summer bank holiday and instead of being the usual prude that I am, I’m going against my usual judgment and posting it anyway. But if you have kids, yeah, you might want to watch this first to see if you want to let your kids watch it too. (You’re going to get a “This video may be inappropriate for some users.” message on your screen when you try to queue it up anyway.)

About Us

There Goes The Fear is where we tell you about the latest tours, gigs, and music we love and think you should too.

We love music that has its heart on its sleeve, tells a story, swims around our head all day or makes us dance like idiots.

The blog is edited by Mary Chang, who is based in Washington DC. She is joined by writers in the UK and America. It was started up by Phil Singer in Bristol, UK.

All MP3s are posted with the permission of the artists or their representatives and are for sampling only. Like the music? Buy it. If you want a track removed, email us and we'll sort it ASAP.
