Single Review: Zulu Winter – Silver Tongue
Following their success from their previous single ‘We Should Be Swimming’, Zulu Winter are to release new single ‘Silver Tongue’ on the 14th of May (same day as their debut album release, entitled ‘Language’). Upon my first listen, ‘Silver Tongue’ seemed really clouded by the ‘We Should Be Swimming’ shadow, with the meaty drums intro before progressing into a blooming, gripping jam. But as I give the track more time, I find ‘Silver Tongue’ more complex than its predecessor, acquiring more depth too. The single is backed with B-Side ‘Young Lovers’.
‘Silver Tongue’ sticks in your head with the speed of light (to me, I can pretty much say the same about the other Zulu Winter tracks I’ve heard). I am chanting along the lines of the chorus “’cause you are, silver tongue you are…” while writing this review. It has all the qualities to be a summer hit, and the upcoming summer we shall see it flourish in charts and radio. With two promising singles under the belt, Zulu Winter’s debut album should be something worth the buzz and anticipation.
8/10
