MP3 of the Day #466: Spector
London five-piece Spector have been named on the BBC Sound of 2012 longlist, so expect to hear a lot more about them in the coming weeks. A lot has been made on the band’s smart suits, but hasn’t the prep school look been done already – and done better – 2 years ago on the BBC Sound of… by Delphic? Also, as a proud wearer of glasses, those cartoony spectacles just border on farce. I’m quite amused that the tag line on their official Web site is “nothing you haven’t seen before”…
I need to hear more from this band to come to a better judgment, but if the Big Pink come round to remix your song, you must be pretty good. And I have to say this free remix breathes life into the otherwise plodding original (watch the video below). You can listen to and download it below. Catch them on tour in February and March next year on these dates.
