Preview: Short Circuit Electronic Music Festival 2011 Presents Mute

Famed London indie label Mute will be hosting 2 days (13-14 May) of the annual Short Circuit Electronic Music Festival at London’s Roundhouse this year. The first round of performers have been announced, and this event is shaping up to be a memorable one in 2011. On Friday (13th of May), there will be rare UK performances by Recoil (ex-Depeche Mode keyboardist Alan Wilder’s current experimental/pop project), Nitzer Ebb, noted German electronic music pioneers like Thomas Fehlmann and Thomas Brinkmann and many others. Mute’s founder Daniel Miller will also be performing a DJ set.
Saturday the 14th of May features an exclusive performance by legendary ’80s synthpop duo Erasure (of ‘Chains of Love’ and ‘A Little Respect’ fame), a guest spot by Pole (known to his mum as Stefan Betke) will lead a discussion entitled ‘An Introduction to the Science of Mastery’, and music producer Gareth Jones (who has worked with the likes of Depeche Mode, Erasure and Liars) will talk about his work with the Mute label. Films to be presented will include the 2009 Mark Stewart documentary ‘On/Off’ and a film by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard on Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Limited premium tickets have sold out, but tickets are still available for Friday (£30), Saturday (£45) and the 2-day event (£65). Please note that all events are 14+, but children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Visit the official London Roundhouse Web site for more details. The line-up so far for Short Circuit for Mute is available under the cut.
