Single Review: City Reign – Out in the Cold

It’s been an exciting couple of months for half Northern, half Southern rock band City Reign. The quartet released their first single, ‘Making Plans’ (reviewed on TGTF), last September on their own label, Car Boot Records. Shortly after that they were featured as a ‘New Favourite Band’ on Steve Lamacq’s In the City coverage in Manchester.
Now the band is set to release a new single, ‘Out in the Cold’, at the end of this month, on 31 January. You can listen to the song and watch the related video below, which doesn’t have much to do with the song, but I find funny b/c the train tracks down a hill and kids running down them remind me of catching the train out of Roskilde last summer. Lead singer Chris Bull has an incredible voice, and paired with powerful drums and suitably jaunty guitars, it all comes together for one great song. Definitely keep an eye on these guys. If you happen to be in Manchester on 29 January, stop by at the Ram and Shackle, Fallowfield, where they’re holding their single release party.
