In the Post #63: Shy Child

New York City-based electronic duo Shy Child is Pete Cafarella (vocals / synths) and Nate Smith (drums). Like Holy Ghost!, they’ve remixed some heavy hitters of the music world – Tokyo Police Club and Editors just to name two. But they’ve recorded music in their own right for nearly a decade. Interestingly, they’ve worked with producers Paul Epworth (Florence and the Machine, Bloc Party, Friendly Fires) and Chris Zane (Les Savy Far, Tokyo Police Club, Passion Pit). They’ve previously toured as support for the likes of Muse, Klaxons, and Bjork. So it’s a wonder why this duo isn’t more well-known. But they will be, in due course.
If compressed synths are your idea of a good time, check out ‘Open Up the Sky’, a new single from the duo released in late May. I can envision all hands in the air at the discotheque for this one; this is pure dance euphoria. The Mighty Mouse remix of the song will make you feel like ‘the Roadrunner’. It’s built for endurance and factory ready for your next run. Load up your mp3 players, folks.
‘Liquid Love’, the latest album from Shy Child, and the single ‘Open Up the Sky’ are both available now in the UK. You can purchase the album from iTunes.
