In the Post #38: Peggy Sue

By Phil Singer on Monday, 9th November 2009 at 12:00 pm

If you like your rock / indie with a big quotent of folksy charm, then I’d strongly advise you to take a big long listen to the gorgeous Peggy Sue.

Their new single, the intriguingly titled “Yo Mama” has a great country vibe similar to what Mumford and Sons, Alessi’s Ark or Laura Marling have achieved in recent times. John Kennedy at XFM recently chose ‘Yo Mama’ as his Exposure Hot One and Rob da Bank has invited Peggy Sue to record a session at Maida Vale studios today. Apparently their new album is “a collection of wonderful, dramatic songs”, and if this single is anything to go by it’s gonna be quite something.

Released today on Chess Club Records, the single will be available on limited edition 7” vinyl, so don’t expect them to be around for long…
