Bands to Watch #90: Kleerup

This week TGTF would like to introduce Andreas Kleerup – a super-multitasking Swede who last year, alongside the uber cool Robyn, was responsible for producing the amazing number 1 track, ‘With Every Heartbeat’. As well as working on other people’s tunes, Andreas is an artist himself, who’s ambient disco pop is said to be inspired by everyone from Fleetwood Mac to, intriguingly, Motley Crue. Although an odd selection – it must be a good formula considering Kleerup picked up a multitude of awards last year ranging from Best Producer, Best Composer to Best Newcomer.
Clearly one for making smash-hits, Kleerup’s self-titled debut album, due for release in May – is set to filled with many exciting dancefloor gems. Big names appearing on Andreas’ debut include Lykke Li and Marit Bergman. That little-known Robyn collaboration I mentioned earlier will also be taking pride of place on the album. Indeed, Kleerup’s debut is being hailed as one of 2009′s “most talked about electronic albums”. Before we’re lucky enough to get our hands on it, though, Kleerup is going to be releasing a limited edition vinyl titled ‘Hello Holla’ at the beginning of April. The 10″ will feature four tracks which are said to reveal a more “leftfield” side to Andreas. Intriguing stuff.
In the meantime, however, you can check out a few of Kleerup’s tracks over at MySpace now. The tracks uploaded show everything from Andreas’ more acoustic sound – to his electro pop gold dust. Exciting – go have a listen!
